I have been inspired by a sweet card design using a doily as a tablecloth.  Here it is:

(Made by Tina Fussell and featured in Stamp It! Cards Magazine)

It gave me the idea to use a doily as a skirt on a card:

(Made for Moxie Fab World’s Tuesday Trigger)

I only wish I had a useful light box and good photography skills!

Happy week ahead, my friends.

.beautiful inspiration. March 14, 2011

I love this Tuesday Trigger image from Moxie Fab World…a combination of some of my favourite colours, which I think look so beautiful together.

So, a card has emerged featuring these colours with a simple heart flower that I have been making a bit lately.

I’ve been trying to keep my designs simpler and less busy lately, mainly just because it is not so time-consuming!  But also because I have a tendency to over-clutter, so it’s a personal challenge that I would like to rub off into my home, where paper and clutter follows me around the house like children to the Pied Piper. (o:  This is more obvious because I share a home with a minimalistic-loving {neat freak} husband!  But that also has its perks – he vacuums often, tidies up before visitors arrive, and cleans out the fridge on a regular basis.  Nice!!

If you’re just coming to the end of a long weekend like me, I hope you made the most of it and got to enjoy all the sun that seems to have returned!

.keep the colour coming. March 6, 2010

I have found one of the happiest mood boards I’ve seen in a while, and the colours have inspired a project or 3.

Inspiration Board by Kelly Oshiro via Santa Barbara Chic

This image is the current Tuesday Trigger: Sweet on Spring at Moxie Fab World  submitted by Kim Wilson.

At the same time, I found the Colour Combination Just Add Ink Challenge #7, which has very similar colour themes.  Such a great blog with so many ideas to get excited about!

So I am playing along with both challenges.

I also tried something new with these 3 cards…I made the second one from the offcuts of the first, and the third one from the offcuts of the second.  It is amazing to me how much use you can actually get out of paper scraps without too much effort!  I think my little experiment worked, however, it could go against me as my paper hoarding tendencies could rise to new levels now!

CARD #1

This was made at a Stampin’ Up! party a few nights ago, so all thanks to Anna Wilson, the SU! Consultant, for the wonderful design.

Embossing done using an amazing Cuttlebug machine

Punched & scrunched never looked so good!

Love those turquoise-y brads

CARD #2

There were so many beautiful scraps left over that I couldn’t throw them out, but instead, created this next design making the best use of them that I could.

The papers I punched the flower petals from (Card #1) become the feature

Letters from Rough Edges Alphabets (SU! set)

Left over embossed card & a simple knot of ribbon

CARD #3

So now, using up the little fiddly bits wasn’t hard with this layered and scalloped dress that I would surely wear, if only I get convert it into material!!  I added the peach colour so that I can include it in the Embellish Magazine Colour Challenge with Borders as well as the Moxie Fab’s Sweet on Spring Tuesday Trigger.

'Merci' card

Layers made using scallop-shaped scissors

Flower from tiny scraps; handmade wire coathanger

Love the green rhinestones

Now that I’ve gotten my molto piccolo (‘very tiny’ in Italian in case you didn’t realise!) fascination out of the way for the day, it’s off to two birthday parties & then dinner with friends.  Have a great long weekend, talk next week!

.i can’t sleep. February 20, 2010

Filed under: Card Projects,Moxie Fab World Tuesday Triggers — moltopiccolo @ 1:34 am

Unfortunately, I can’t sleep tonight!  Fortunately, I can always find something to do at 1am when I can’t sleep. {o:  At the moment, I am sharing my desk with nearly 4 y.o. Ethan, who is suffering from the same “can’t sleep” issue that I am!  Can’t say this has ever happened before, and it won’t be long before I take us both back to bed to try again.

So I found another Tuesday Trigger on www.moxiefabworld.com

See the post here: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2010/02/tuesday-trigger-girly-gingham-and-perky.html

The image to be inspired by is from Dear Daisy Cottage blog (www.deardaisycottage.typepad.com ) and was submitted by Becky Garrison.  I thought I’d try this one out as I would rarely use yellow and red together, and I don’t often use big bows.  So this seemed a good challenge.  Here’s my card that resulted:

Yellow and red, bows & flowers

I used: Decorative and sentiment stamps from Stampin’ Up Pocket Silhouettes stamp set.

I just love using Pocket Silhouettes, which I’ve only had for a couple of weeks.  Nothing like a new stamp set to get you inspired.

So now it must be time to go back to bed.  Especially as Ethan is getting more & more talkative with every minute that slips by.  Goodnight, and I hope you are enjoying a wonderful night’s sleep!

The title is a mouthful, I know.  Moxie Fab World is a great site that has loads of inspirations for paper crafters.  It’s here: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/

It is also the home of the Tuesday Trigger, which is a weekly inspiration challenge.  The picture below is this week’s very sweet trigger.

See the trigger post here: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2010/02/tuesday-trigger.html

So my efforts as inspired by all those pink lollies are right here: (sorry for the rather poor photos, due to fairly bad night lighting):

Heart stamp from 'Gentler Times' Stampin' Up set

If you have noticed that this is a very late post, it’s because this challenge closes at midnight Monday MST, which is 2 hours behind EST, and I nearly forgot all about it!  So now I’m off to bed to sleep tight.

Goodnight! Ruth x
