Yellow and gray is one of my favourite colour combinations at the moment…and the Moxie Fab World just happens to be having a challenge using gray in a project, so I had to be part of it…see Gray is the New Black Challenge here.

And here is my card:

Hope you’re having a great Tuesday, with a lot of yellow and not too much gray!

I’ve missed spending time doing my favourite hobby – cardmaking – and have finally found some time recently to do just that.  Thought I should share with you, as after all, this is my craft blog, and it’s been a while since there were any cards on here!

Our little Eli turned 2 a couple of weeks ago, and I had so much fun creating a bright, colourful card that would make his eyes widen…and the sight of a yummy ice-cream cone was all that was needed!

We have welcomed lots of babies into the world recently and this one will make it’s way to the N.T. soon for a gorgeous new baby boy named Boaz!

Lastly, my wonderful Nan celebrated her 90th birthday a few days ago, and I made the prettiest card I could come up with for her…she loves bright flowers and things with lace and sparkles, so this is the finished product.

I wonder what has been keeping you busy lately?  Hope it’s been very enjoyable and good for your creative soul!

I look forward to blogging a bit more regularly this year than I have in the last few months.  I guess there are seasons for everything but it will be nice to get back to this little muse of mine some more. (o:

.in support of those affected by the Qld floods. January 19, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — moltopiccolo @ 11:13 pm

I am so aware that even though stories of the recent Queensland floods have lessened dramatically in the news, there is much to recover from for many, many people.  Some have lost everything, including those they love.  My heart breaks for the family who lost their 4 year old boy after he fell from a rescue boat.  I struggle to think what to write next.  I’m still stuck on that.  Yes, I have a 4 year old son also, but I am certain that almost anyone hearing the story would be saddened beyond words.

It seems so inconsequential that I have decided to hold an auction to raise some funds to be donated directly to those in need.  But I wanted to do something.  Anything really.  And this is just something small.  But hopefully something you might want to be part of.

I am auctioning a 50 x 70cm canvas print entitled ‘Swan Girl’ and the starting bid is $30.

You need to visit my Molto Piccolo Facebook Group and place you email address & bid value in the Comments section under the photo.  Bidding will be open until midnight on 31st January 2011.  (Free delivery in the Launceston area, or check with me about postage costs to anywhere else).

Every now and then, the linking tool on my blog dashboard has an error.  Now is one of those times.  So no clever links this time!  Click on the Facebook page link to see more info and to bid:!/group.php?gid=131720726849216 (I expect you have to click ‘Like’ or ‘Join’ at the top of the page first to be able to view the details & to bid).

If you are not on Facebook but would like to bid, please comment on this blog post with your email address & bid amount, or email me directly at and I will add your bid to the auction.  (You’d need to check with me first what the current bid is so you can up it!)

I had this crazy idea – that everyone who bids but doesn’t win could still donate their bid amount to the flood relief appeal anyway.  Wouldn’t that be amazing?  Just an idea that of course isn’t up to me but it can’t hurt to put the idea out there!  (o:  The official Queensland Government website has all the details of how to donate here:

Maybe you can take some time to pray for the people affected, or think of something big or small you can do to contribute.

Love to you,

Ruth x

.support those in need – Qld floods. January 13, 2011

Hi everyone,

It seemed a little strange to focus solely on creative things when so much devestation is going on in Queensland and so many people are being faced with such loss.  So today I wanted to let you know about a few ways you can help that you might not have heard about yet.

If you’re in Launceston, you can have a photo taken in “Faces for the Flood – people who are doing their part” by Ebony Bejah of Caught A Glimpse Photography.  You can click here for her Facebook page which is probably the easiest way to find out how to participate.  It is a quick snap photo shoot for a $25 donation to the Flood Relief.

Or you might like to participate in an online Facebook auction by That Vintage…see the Facebook page here and see the photos of items you can bid on here.  The auction will continue until Mon 24th Jan.  That Vintage sell varied jewellery pieces, mainly made from Tasmanian Myrtle.

Of course you can donate through the official avenues also, and I know from the friends that I have in the region, that any prayers for safety and recovery and for those who are grieving are highly valued right now.

Take care, and I hope you can give some thought to how you can help.  Perhaps you have a crazy idea of your own that you just need some encouragement to put into action – if it can make the slightest difference to someone else, you should go for it!

.beautiful new year. January 3, 2011

Happy new year!  Hope you’ve enjoyed a fantastic start to it already.  Paul, myself and the boys had the pleasure of joining friends at their gorgeous new home in the country (although their house is anything but country style – it is Australian contemporary design at its best), for a new year’s eve party, then woke up the next day to breathe in some truly fresh country air and was greeted by the most amazing mountain view.  Then Paul & I were jumped on by 2 very excited little boys says “happy new ear!” (Ethan) and “happppppeeee!” (Eli), which definitely ensured that we were awake!

This is the amazing view from the the bedroom we stayed in – Dry’s Bluff, overlooking Liffey, Tasmania.

The boys loved having a “sleepover” at our friends’ house.

We went for a walk to a peaceful waterfall on the property…lighting wasn’t so good for photos, but it was the perfect escape from the hot sun.

I’m sure to get around to some serious crafting soon as I received several gorgeous new stamp sets for Christmas that I can’t wait to get my hands on!  They have been looking at me from my desk for the past week, but there have been too many other great things to do, (day trips to fun places with the boys, helping friends move house, long lunches & dinners with friends & family, days at the beach, & our country getaway…), so crafting has had to wait!

I hope your Christmas & New Year celebrations were something you enjoyed and haven’t left you a few kilos over your preferred weight like mine has!!  I don’t make NY resolutions as a rule, but I do usually take the opportunity to change some bad habits once summer is fully here, so here’s hoping I can reverse the effects of the past couple of weeks!
